Desi Bar & Grill: Reviews & Ratings
This new Indian restaurant is phenomenal and I am so happy we have one near the Tatnuck area that is delicious! For apps we started with the chicken momos and vegetable pakoras. Momos were your average delicious momos and vegetable pakoras were okay, a little too salty for my taste but the sauces they give you balances it out. For entrees we ordered medium spiced chicken tiki masala (Of course LOL), medium chicken vindaloo, and spicy baingan bharta (mashed eggplant with spices). Each entree came in a small soup container and with a small soup container of rice as well. ALL THE FLAVORS WERE SPECTACULAR , it tasted like a grandma poured her love into this meal Perfect amount of spice and nothing tasted bland. I am a sucker for onion chutney and was so happy they had it. I wanted to cry happy tears with my first initial bite of the onion chutney and just knew everything else was going to be delicious. Prep time was about thirty minutes. Service was friendly and everyone was so welcoming. I was happy to see a few tables when I picked up my takeout order esp. when they just opened on December 31st. Takeout order total was $96. I feel like Worcester was lacking in really good Indian food but Desi Bar and Grill really checked off all the marks. I wish them all the success in their new business!
Came to check out the lunch buffet. Very nice spread- good assortment of vegetarian and meat dishes. Mushroom chili and the grilled chicken tikka stood out. They offer soup and Chai tea, nice touch. The bar area is smaller than the dining area but looks nice. Modern clean decor, and the woman covering the dining area did a great job. Buffet time of writing was 14.95. Good deal.
I’ve been wanting to try Desi for a while now because of the great reviews. Well today was the day and this fine Indian restaurant did not disappoint. The interior was spacious and welcoming and clean. We were warmly greeted and the menu has an array of Indian dishes. We tried the chicken tandoori, and garlic naan bread. The chicken came out on a sizzling hot plate not the usual drum sticks I’ve seen other places but nice pieces of breast with cabbage and a separate plate of rice. The chicken was moist and delicious. The naan bread was exceptional, fluffy not dry, with just enough garlic taste and beautiful cilantro on top. The waitress was attentive and answered our questions with a warm smile. This place is one of the best if not that best Indian food I’ve had! I will definitely be back for a meal that leaves you beyond satisfied. The cooks/chefs are magnificent! Great job Desi!
Dinner for two on a weeknight, staff were a little lost in translation. A Sprite was ordered with the request of the can, the can didn't make it, let it slide. Poori & garlic Naan bread were ordered however the Poori to come out with the appetizers (to go along with the malagatani soup) The waitress advised that the curry dishes come with rice which we acknowledged and still wanted the Poori to come first and the Garlic naan be IN ADDITION to the meal w/ rice and the other meal to come with it's rice. Malagatani soup came out with no Poori, again we made no mention and let it slide. (They overdid their hand with the salt in the soup unfortunately) The curry meals came out, no rice for either which at this point we had to mention to the waitress. The Naan came out, however it was plain and was also mentioned. Boxes were ordered but was brought the bill... The waitress was very apologetic for each infraction thereafter but kept saying "oh I thought", "Oh I heard". They did comp us for the bread in the end but for a birthday dinner celebration didn't want to be so bewildered as we were for clear verbalized communication. Will have to stick to the lunch buffet option in the future.
This family-owned Indian/Nepali restaurant is a hidden gem! The food is absolutely delicious, the service is top-notch, and the staff is incredibly friendly. We had a few questions about some of the dishes, and the waiter was more than happy to explain everything in detail and even make some great suggestions. The food is made from scratch, so I’m sure they can accommodate any food allergies you might have. If you’re in the mood for some authentic Indian cuisine, I highly recommend this place. They also have a buffet from 11:30 to 3 pm, so you can try a variety of dishes.
Great place for a date night! The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The food was SO GOOD. We have been looking for a new Indian place and this is the perfect spot. I recommend trying a soup and an entree with Naan to enhance your meal.
This Indian and Nepali restaurant is delicious. I went with a friend for lunch which is a buffet and the selection of the food was fantastic for only 16.00 we ate a in abundance, very tasty food. I decided to bring my husband on Sunday and although it wasn’t a buffet we enjoy the Tikka Masala, cauliflower with potatoes, garlic Nan and great basmati rice. The sauces were delicious. The space was cozy and spacious. They have a bar
